Nature in Futakuchi
Japanese green woodpecker （Piciformes, woodpecker family）
Endemic to Japan, the upper surface of the body is yellow-green. Males have prominent red crown extended from the back of the head. Females only have red at the back of the head.
While in flight, they make a sharp squealing sound, and a “pyopyo” sound during mating season.
